Error code 2755 when attempting to install Python 2.7.5 or 3.3.2

I am trying to install Python on my Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit machine, but after going through all of the installation settings ‘n’ stuff it shows this for a while:

before showing this, then the ‘Installer quit prematurely’ message and exiting:

I have tried rebooting, redownloading twice, trying 3.3.2 instead of 2.7.5 etc etc.

Can anybody help me?

Make sure C:WindowsInstaller exists (if windows is installed in C:).

If it doesn’t, just create it and run the installer again.

Double check the file-permissions of the installer.

Try to run as Administrator and try to install to All Users.

If it still don’t work try to install from commandline

I have experienced this issue before. Check in C:Windows if there is an installer folder. You need to enable viewing of Protected System files in order to see this folder. If the folder is missing, you can create it and ensure its hidden. Try to install again.

Old one, but finally figured this out: the answer came from https://mail. python. org/pipermail/python-win32/2009-May/009090.html, and fixed this for me. The problem is that the MSI service (msiexec) runs as the SYSTEM user and doesn’t have permissions to read the installer. To fix it, you need to:

Once I did this, it worked.

Check to see if the installer itself is not encrypted. Go to the installer, right click, properties, advanced and uncheck the encrypt option. This worked for me.

Its all related to extracting msi file content and putting it into right directory in windows folder so it requires PERMISSION.

I was trying to install node. js MSI on Windows 10 and kept getting this error 2755. The following worked for me: search for cmd in the Start Menu, right-click it and Run as Administrator, and then run the following command:

This worked for me even when right-clicking the MSI file itself and running as admin did not. I also tried all the other listed solutions here (and rebooted) but only this allowed me to work around the issue.

Try to remove the check mark from «encrypt contents to secure data» for the setup file in Properties->Advanced

Try creating new %windir%installer and make it hidden. All of the sudden my Windows 8.1 couldn’t install nothing at all. I’ve made some free space deleting «some unimportant» files ?

I’ve run into the same error from MSI files because they’re downloaded from another computer. In the general tab of the file properties simply click «Unblock».

In my case, the issue was that I was running the MSI from a subst’d(*) drive. Opening the same folder and the same MSI from its real path allowed the installation to continue.
